Hurricane Dorian expected to Hit Grand Bahama Island
Hurricane Dorian expected to hit northwestern Bahamas later today with tropical storm winds beginning within the next few hours.
A life threatening storm surge could raise water levels by as much as 15 to 20 feet above normal tide levels in areas of Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island. Near the coast, the surge will be accompanied by large and possibly destructive waves.
Rainfall may cause life-threatening flash floods.

North Pole recently struck by lightning 4 dozen times
Hope Santa and his wife ran for cover because the North Poll was recently struck by lightning a whopping 48 times. Which apparently is quite rare for the region.
A number of lightning strikes were recorded Saturday evening (Aug. 10th) within 300 miles of the North Pole. The lightning strikes occurred near 85°N and 126°E. This lightning was detected by Vaisala’s GLD lightning detection network. #akwx pic.twitter.com/6jdxeMPBdH

6 Florida were hit by lightning during a fluke storm on 7/30/19.
“It seemed to be a fluke storm that developed rapidly without any prior warning, and it appears there was a direct lightning strike to where the workers were working,” said Capt. Borroto.
